Update to Our Health and Safety Protocols

Due to the current health advisories for COVID-19 in Lorain County, we are updating our health and safety protocols. The library will remain open for browsing, but we ask that you limit your time in the building and we encourage you to take advantage of our convenient Curbside Pickup service. Call (440)988-4230 or log into catalog.amherstpubliclibrary.org to place items on hold for Curbside Pickup.

Curbside Pickup is available during the following hours:

Monday – Thursday

1 p.m.– 7 p.m.

Friday and Saturday

1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Please note that in the case of inclement weather, Curbside Pickup may be temporarily suspended for the safety of our staff.

Beginning Monday, November 23, individual computer sessions will only be available by appointment and will be limited to 30 minutes. Only four computers will be available for use at a time. Same day appointments may be available. Call the Reference Desk at (440)988-4230 to schedule an appointment.

Our Reference staff is also available to answer your reference inquiries by phone or email. Call the Reference Desk or email AskaLibrarian@amherstpubliclibrary.org with your questions.

We will continue to follow our regular business hours. Please allow the first hour of the day for elderly and medically vulnerable patrons:

Monday – Thursday

Seniors/Vulnerable Patrons: 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.
General Public: 10 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Friday and Saturday

Seniors/Vulnerable Patrons: 10 a.m. – 11a.m.

General Public: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Please remember that all patrons over the age of 2 are required to wear a mask/face covering, properly fitted over mouth and nose, at all times inside the building.

These restrictions will remain in place until further notice. We will continue to monitor the situation in Lorain County and follow all guidelines issued by the Lorain County Public Health Department and the Ohio Department of Health.
