Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening
The Amherst Public Library is excited to announce that our Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening will take place on Monday, July 11 at 12pm. Please join us at our new parking lot entrance as we unveil and celebrate our newly renovated and expanded building! Curbside Pickup and telephone services will not be available from July 5 through July 10 as we prepare for the Grand Opening. Summer Reading will still be available at the original 1906 Carnegie library at the corner of Park Avenue and Spring Street, Wednesday & Thursday 1pm – 7pm, Friday & Saturday 1pm – 4pm.
Our Grand Opening celebration begins with the Ribbon Cutting ceremony at 12pm on Monday, July 11. Explore our new building and come back from 6pm – 8pm for a Balloon Extravaganza with Robert E. of Cleveland Magic and Balloons, who will be in our all-new Community Room for two hours of balloon bending fun!
Want to learn more about everything the library has to offer? Guided tours with library staff will be available on Tuesday, July 12 and Thursday, July 14 at 1pm and 7pm. Meet at the new parking lot entrance! Our furry friends will be here for Canine Reading Buddies on Tuesday, July 12 from 6pm – 7pm. Bring your favorite book or borrow one of ours!
Stop by the library’s front lawn while you’re out Walkin’ on Wednesday, July 13 from 6:30pm – 8pm for all ages Beach Blanket Bingo. Winners of each bingo game will receive a small prize and entries to win one of two beach blankets!
Meet and greet our new Youth Services staff on Thursday, July 14 from 6pm – 7pm. Miss Kristina and Miss Megan will be on the second floor to introduce themselves to our community and show off our newly renovated children’s area!
Throughout the week, enter to win a brand-new copy of Amherstopoly! Winners will be drawn on Friday, July 15.
Heading out for a night downtown on Saturday, July 16? Stop by the library from 6pm – 7pm for Mocktail Hour. Sip on non-alcoholic “mocktails” as you explore the newly renovated and expanded library after hours! Registration is suggested for this event, but is not required.
